40th Anniversary Celebrations

TO CELEBRATE OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY DUNDALK CREDIT UNION LAUNCHED A SERIES OF INITIATIVES OVER THE COMING YEAR WITH “SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE”!

The first 3 months of 2009 were a busy time at Dundalk Credit Union with the Open Day on Saturday February 7th quickly followed by a €40,000 Members Draw, a children’s art, essay and poetry competition and the announcement of a Third Level Educational Bursary scheme.

Founded forty years ago Dundalk Credit Union is today one of Ireland’s most progressive and financially strong Credit Unions with assets now approaching €150 Million. Building on the vision and dedication of founder members; successive Boards of Directors, management and staff, and most importantly our loyal members, have created a people first financial co-operative firmly rooted in the local community.

 

This webpage presents details of the Members Draw with €40,000 worth of prizes which were shared among 40 lucky winners, as well as information about the children’s competition and Third Level Bursaries.

40th Anniversary Member's Draw

With €40,000 worth of prizes, the draw was open to qualifying members of Dundalk Credit Union (see below) and those Members were entered automatically into the draw.

40 lucky winners were invited to attend a Grand Final in the Fairways Hotel on the 26th of March 2009 where every finalist will took home a prize.

The draw ran from the end of February with 10 Finalists being selected at random each week for four consecutive weeks. These 40 finalists shared the following prizes:


OTHER PRIZES INCLUDED:
37 inch Philips flat screen TVs, Sony laptops, iphones, ipods, digital cameras and camcorders as well as cash prizes and shopping vouchers with every Finalist guaranteed a prize.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
 
  • Full terms & conditions are available from Dundalk Credit Union on request.
  • Members with €10 or more in their account, and who have had a member initiated transaction within the financial year ending 30 September 2008, will be automatically entered into this draw.
  • Dormant accounts, inactive accounts and accounts not in good standing will not be entered into this draw.
  • All Finalists will be contacted by Dundalk Credit Union in advance of the Grand Final. All Finalists must agree to allow their names to be published.

 

Third Level Bursary Scheme

To mark our 40th Anniversary, Dundalk Credit Union is delighted to announce the introduction of a Third Level Bursary Scheme.

4 lucky Leaving Certificate students from Dundalk will each be awarded a bursary of €1,500 per annum for the duration of their full time diploma / degree course. (Terms & Conditions Apply).

To qualify, students must have an active account with Dundalk Credit Union by July 31st 2009. Bursary Application Forms will be available from Dundalk Credit Union from September 1st 2009.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
 
  • Bursaries will be drawn by lot on the first Friday in October 2009.
  • Draw will be made by representatives of Dundalk Credit Union.
  • Applicants must be attending Post Primary School in Dundalk.
  • Applicants must be about to take up a First Year Place on a full time CAO/CAS programme at a Third Level Institution.
  • Applicants must have an active account with Dundalk Credit Union opened on or before July 31st 2009 in the year of application.
  • All accounts must be operated within the terms of business of the Credit Union and failure to maintain an account in good order may lead to suspension or cancellation of a Bursary.
  • Bursary winners must maintain an active account with Dundalk Credit Union for the duration of the Bursary period.
  • Bursary applications must be submitted to Dundalk Credit Union on or before September 30th 2009 in the year of application.
  • All Bursary applications must be made on the official Bursary Application Form available from Dundalk Credit Union from September 1st 2009.
  • Winners will be notified by phone.
  • Winners will be required to attend for a publicity photograph.
  • Payments to winners will be made twice per year, 50% in October and 50% in February.
  • Payment of second and subsequent years of the bursary grant will be dependent on the student achieving satisfactory results in exams and continued attendance on the same course at the same college.
  • Each Winner will be required to present a letter from his/her college confirming that he/she is a full time student at the college before each payment is made.
  • The Board of Directors of Dundalk Credit Union has exclusive and the entire responsibility for all matters relating to the Bursary scheme, and its decisions on all matters are deemed final and conclusive.

RULES:
 
  • All entries must be the original work of the Primary School child entering. All entries must have been prepared specifically for this competition.
  • Competition is open to all Primary School Children in Dundalk.
  • Competition is open to children of Members attending school outside of the Dundalk Credit Union catchment area.
  • The Credit Union are unable to return any entries.
  • Winning entries will be displayed in the Credit Union and may also be displayed in other public locations in Dundalk.
  • The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entertained.
  • Entries will be judged by a panel of judges including representatives of the Credit Union and external judges (details on request).
  • Winners will be notified by phone.
  • Prizes will be presented at a Credit Union event at 8PM on Thursday March 26th 2009 in the Fairways Hotel, Dundalk.
  • Winning entries and photographs of winners at prize event may be published in local newspapers and may be displayed in Dundalk Credit Union.
