This year, Dundalk’s success and ‘Dream Big Dundalk’ attitude is the theme of the day and as we are celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2018, we feel it is the perfect inspiration for that particular message.

“As we approach March 17th and look forward to the events of this day, the Parade is a symbol of unity within our community. This would not be possible if it wasn’t for our sponsors, both past and present.”

“I would like to thank Dundalk Credit Union for making this year’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration possible with their generosity.”

Chairman of Dundalk Credit Union Paddy Donnelly, Cllr Maeve Yore, Dundalk Chamber of Commerce President Michael Gaynor also spoke to the assembled crowd, as did Grand Marshal and fiddle player Zoe Conway who performed for the audience.

Paddy Donnelly Chairperson of Dundalk Credit Union said at the launch that “The Board of Directors of Dundalk Credit Union are delighted and honoured to be sponsoring the 2018 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in what is the 50th Anniversary year of the Credit Union,”

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dundalk will start at 1pm and follows a more traditional route than previous years, starting on the Castletown Road then up through the town’s main thoroughfare right through to Dublin Street. Following the Parade, the Dundalk Credit Union/Pelican Promotions Family Fun Zone located at the Market Square will run into the evening with music, food stalls and kid’s fun rides. Wristbands for the Fun Zone are available priced €6 from a number of locations including Stitch Craft in the lead up to the event with a family package also available.

The closing date for local groups and businesses hoping to take part in the parade is March 9th. As always, there is a huge interest and all participants are asked to focus on the ‘Dream Big Dundalk’ theme when putting together their floats.
