Dundalk Credit Union launch Sustainable Energy Community (SEC)

As part of our commitment to help deliver a more sustainable community in the North East, we are delighted to announce that we are launching the Dundalk Credit Union SEC. An SEC is a group of people or organisations working together to achieve their energy goals and to create a sustainable future. As an SEC, Dundalk Credit Union and its community partners can increase skills and knowledge in the local community, provide access to available grants, contribute to climate change targets, and support an equitable transition to a low carbon society.

Dundalk Credit Union are committed to the creation of a circular economy in Dundalk and establishing an SEC is the first step towards that goal. The SEC will allow the credit union to encourage, promote and undertake projects across all areas of the wider community which will reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of renewable energies.

The SEC will be officially launched on Tuesday, 27th February, in the credit union’s newly acquired Houston’s building on Clanbrassil street. The Energy Team will be in attendance all day at the launch to provide valuable information to individuals, businesses and community groups on how they can achieve energy efficiencies and reduce energy bills. Local scientist, engineer, STEAM communicator, writer and explorer, Niamh Shaw is on hand from 11 o’clock to 1pm with two enthralling talks, covering her tales of exploration and discovery. Other contributors include Louth County Council, Dundalk Tidy Towns, Dundalk Credit Union Lending Teams, and a number of leading companies in the renewable energy industry, who will provide insight on energy savings and retrofitting projects.

Dundalk Credit Union encourage homeowners, business owners and community group members to attend to see how the SEC can facilitate their energy upgrade needs and how they can commit to using less energy, greener energy and smarter energy.

The event takes place from 11am to 3pm on 27th February, 4-5 Clanbrassil Street.
