A Celebration of Members Helping Members

Today, Thursday, 19th October 2023, Dundalk Credit Union, together with credit unions around the World, will join in celebrating the Spirit of the Global Credit Union Movement.

International Credit Union Day recognises and reflects upon the important role credit unions play in meeting the financial needs of people within our community on a local and global level.  The theme this year is “Members Helping Members”, which emphasises the importance of the Credit Union movement in our community, country, and indeed across the world. Through membership of the Credit Union, members help each other to build financial health and a sustainable community for a brighter tomorrow.

Today, we look forward to celebrating with our members and community. We will have refreshments in our office, random acts of kindness for some local charities, voluntary groups and organisations, spot prizes for our members throughout the day, and treats and colouring activities for our younger members visiting the office.

At Dundalk Credit Union, we believe in community, and on behalf of our members we are proud to support many local charities, voluntary and support groups, sports clubs, schools and community organisations who work to enrich and benefit the wider community. Today we are proud to present the following groups with a donation towards their work that benefits our wider community: DkIT Student Hardship Fund, Maria Goretti Foundation, St. Daigh’s National School, Rape Crisis Centre North East, and Meals on Wheels.

Communities Helping Communities

As part of the Worldwide Foundations for Credit Union’s Global Bridges programme, we are proud to be working with and supporting PVKS Credit Union in Ukraine. Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome a delegation of eight team members from PVKS Credit Union to Dundalk Credit Union.

Throughout the week, we had knowledge sharing from staff at Dundalk Credit Union with our Ukrainian Credit Union Colleagues. We learned more about the impact of war in Ukraine both on the Ukrainian people themselves but also on the member Credit Union community across Ukraine, and we celebrated Women in Leadership. A true example of the power of members helping member and communities helping communities.

Dundalk Credit Union Directors, Management and Staff welcome a delegation from PVKS Credit Union, Ukraine and The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, as part of a Global Bridges Programme which connects Credit Unions across the world.

Mike Reuter, Executive Director, and Alisa Stetsyshyn of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions speak to Dundalk Credit Union Directors, Management and Staff  about the work of the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions and about the impact of war in Ukraine both on the Ukrainian people themselves but also on the member Credit Union community across Ukraine.
